Retirement (Emeritus/a and Retired Status)

Information on emeritus/a and retired status for faculty and retirement options for faculty and other academic appointees.

Faculty Retirement Incentive Plan

Active, tenured faculty members who have at least ten years of tenured service are eligible for the benefits of the Faculty Retirement Incentive Plan (FRIP). For complete information on FRIP, please contact Ingrid Gould in the Office of the Provost.

Statute 16. Emeritus Status

Faculty may retire at age fifty-five. A Faculty member who retires from a position on indefinite tenure or who retires from a Faculty position after serving as a Faculty member for twenty years shall be designated a Member Emeritus of the faculty.
