Haresh Sapra is the Charles T. Horngren Professor of Accounting at the Chicago Booth School of Business. As Special Advisor to the Provost, he works to expand and implement the University’s budget planning processes and resource allocation strategies, among other areas.
Haresh’s scholarship focuses on the real effects of accounting measurement policies, disclosure regulation, and corporate governance. His current research explores issues related to disclosure, transparency, and financial reporting for financial institutions. His work has been published in prominent journals including The Accounting Review, Journal of Accounting Research, Games and Economic Behavior, and the Journal of Accounting and Economics. Additionally, his research has been featured in leading publications such as The Economist, The Wall Street Journal, Bloomberg, and The Financial Times.
Beyond his research accomplishments, Haresh has received multiple teaching awards at Booth and was recognized as one of the top-ranked professors in Bloomberg Businessweek’s Guide to the Top Business Schools.
Haresh earned his BBA and MS in accounting from the University of Houston, Texas, and his PhD in business administration from the University of Minnesota, Minneapolis.
