In his statutory role of Secretary of the Faculties, Jonathan supports the University Senate, the Council of the Senate, and the Committee of the Council, as well as the University Boards by staffing meetings, documenting proceedings, and maintaining official records, and conducting faculty elections. The Office of the Secretary of the Faculties also supports the College Council, the Committee on Honorary Degrees, and the Ryerson Lecture Committee.
Before joining the University of Chicago in 2026, Jonathan served as the dean of academic operations at Olivet Nazarene University and as registrar and assistant dean at North Central College. Throughout his career, he has worked closely with faculty governance bodies and has served as a faculty secretary for more than two decades.
Born in England and raised in Illinois, Jonathan received a BA in business with an emphasis in marketing and an MBA from Olivet Nazarene University. He later earned his EdD in higher education administration from Northeastern University. Outside of work, he enjoys reading fiction, spending time with his family, and especially enjoying his grandchildren.
