Michelle Hoereth is an Assistant Provost and provides leadership for diversity and inclusion programs and initiatives across the University.
Prior to joining the Office of the Provost, Michelle was the inaugural Assistant Dean for Diversity and Inclusion at the University of Chicago’s Harris School of Public Policy, where she established and led the Office of Diversity and Inclusion, creating high-impact programs and initiatives for students, faculty, staff, and alumni. She was the architect of the school’s first diversity and inclusion strategic plan and implemented key metrics to capture performance and measure progress.
Michelle joined the University in 2018 with 20 years of experience in urban policy and development. She holds a PhD in Policy Studies in Urban Education from the University of Illinois at Chicago, as well as a master's in urban planning and policy from Rutgers University, a master's in education policy from the University of Illinois at Chicago, and a bachelor’s degree in economics from Howard University.
