Assistant Provost
 
Michelle Hoereth is an Assistant Provost and provides leadership for diversity and inclusion programs and initiatives across the University. She also works on the University’s Faculty Development Program.
 
Prior to joining the Office of the Provost, Michelle was the inaugural Assistant Dean for Diversity and Inclusion at the University of Chicago’s Harris School of Public Policy. Along with providing leadership and oversight for the Office of Diversity and Inclusion, Michelle created and implemented programs and initiatives for students, faculty, staff, and alumni. She was the architect of the school’s first diversity and inclusion strategic plan and implemented key metrics to capture performance and measure progress.
 
Michelle joined the University in 2018 with 20 years of experience in urban policy and development. She is currently a Ph.D. candidate in Policy Studies in Urban Education at the University of Illinois at Chicago. Michelle also has Masters in Urban Planning and Policy from Rutgers University, a Masters in Education Policy from the University of Illinois at Chicago, and a Bachelors in Economics from Howard University.
