As special advisor to the provost for non-degree programs, Starr Marcello collaborates with academic units and faculty to develop, market, and launch new non-degree programs, broadening the University of Chicago’s educational reach and impact. She also serves as deputy dean for MBA and masters programs at the Booth School of Business, where she oversees the full-time, evening, weekend, and executive MBA programs, as well as Booth’s specialized master in management and master in finance programs. Her leadership spans across all aspects of the student experience, including admissions, student life, career services, leadership development, and corporate relations. Additionally, Starr supports Booth’s Polsky Center for Entrepreneurship and Innovation and the Rustandy Center for Social Sector Innovation.
In her previous role as executive director of the Polsky Center, Starr expanded the entrepreneurial ecosystem across the University and extended its influence to global campuses in Hong Kong and London. She also helped integrate entrepreneurship into academic programs for students from diverse disciplines and connected University initiatives to the dynamic startup community in the City of Chicago.
Starr holds both an AM and an MBA from the University of Chicago and a BA from Wesleyan University.
