The University Budget Office has responsibility for the development and monitoring of the $2.6 billion operating budget of the University of Chicago. The consolidated budget for the University of Chicago including the University, Medical Center and Marine Biological Laboratory is $5.2 billion. The University Budget Office is also responsible for oversight of the annual capital budget. 
 
Our mission is to effectively manage the budgetary resources of the University of Chicago in support of the academic mission. We work with campus academic and administrative units on budget targets, assessments, analysis, financial controls, and monitoring and reporting. The office provides analysis on a wide range of subjects including research performance, enrollment trends, and other academic priorities.   
 
The University Budget Office strives to maintain a high standard of knowledge, expertise, service, ethics and professional integrity while providing sound counsel in the budgeting and decision-making process of the University.
