The Office of the Provost leads initiatives designed to support and enhance the academic programs at the University. We do this by improving support systems, conducting financial and other analysis, and other services. We are often aided in this work by faculty who advise on certain matters and provide valuable input.

University Budget
Through the Budget Office, the Office of the Provost manages, administers, and implements the University’s annual operating, long-term planning and capital budgets. The Budget Office also provides strategic and operational leadership in financial planning and analysis and works collaboratively with units across campus on their budgets.

Quarterly Updates on Administrative Modernization
The Office of the Provost leads several projects to improve the University’s administrative services, including the implementation a modern software platform to support faculty recruitment, review, and promotion, replacement of the University’s financial system and selection of a new course evaluation tool.

Office of Institutional Analysis
The Office of Institutional Analysis collects, manages, reports, and analyzes data to support strategic decision making at UChicago.

Space and Capital Planning
Since 2000, the University has added approximately one million square feet of academic space to campus. The Office of the Provost maintains a space inventory and provides support for new and renovated facilities.

UChicago ECo
The Office of the Provost helps support, communicate, and connect across UChicago’s Environmental Community (UChicago ECo) – academics, students, and staff tackling scientific and social challenges related to the environment and sustainability. For information on green campus efforts, visit the Office of Sustainability in Facilities Services.
