President Alivisatos and Provost Baicker convened the Artificial Intelligence and Education Working Group at the University of Chicago on February 24, 2025, charging them with supporting faculty in navigating and developing the role of AI in teaching and pedagogy in undergraduate and graduate education and its effects on the University’s educational mission. The report from the Artificial Intelligence and Education Working Group reflects its findings and recommendations, as delivered to the President and Provost in July 2025.

It is my great pleasure to announce the appointment of John A. List, the Kenneth C. Griffin Distinguished Service Professor in Economics, as director of the Becker Friedman Institute for Economics, effective July 1.
Except for in designated online programs, instruction at the University of Chicago is in-person. No course or course component (section, lab, exam, etc.) may be offered remotely unless there is an exception recommended by the Dean and approved by the Provost.
